The obvious question is "why?" The answer is simple - to develop your relationship with God. The only way to become physically healthy is to create a lifestyle that encourages and supports healthy habits. The only way to grow spiritually is to develop a lifestyle that encourages and supports spiritual growth. There are no shortcuts to spiritual growth. You have to simply decide it's important and then make your life schedule support it. It's that simple. It's that hard.
Just like physical exercise, when you do it with someone the chances of your success increase. At FUM we have lots of opportunities for you to learn about the Bible through a variety of study options and classes and small groups. However, if you don't want to join people in a study, this blog and reading the Bible through the year is another alternative. You can use your computer to communicate some thoughts about scripture and even read the scripture on line (more on that later).
The point of this exercise is for you to develop a meaningful connection with God - every day. The point of this exercise is for you to discover how God's word can and will transform your heart and life. The point of this exercise is for you to see how God can matter and direct your 24/7 life. The point of this exercise is to get beyond sitting in a pew and allow God to change you.
We will start this journey on January 4, 2009. More details to follow.

Jana I think this is an excellent idea! I will try to keep up as much as a full time grad student can. :)
